| Customer Reviews: plug and play, cheap February 17, 2010 John DeWeese 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Despite middling reviews for this product on the Apple Store site, I bought one here at half the price, and it's worked perfectly. I use this to connect my 2007 MacBook Pro to a new Apple 24" Cinema Display, using both MacOS 10.6 and Microsoft Windows XP. The display comes on immediately when plugged in, and the signal is perfect. The Blue LED is always on and annoying (everybody needs to flash an LED in your face), and the display reports itself as some random external device. Bought it on [...] via amazon for about $80, much less than the $150 other places. Recommended.
Worth it. Cheaper than Apple Store. January 27, 2010 Lawrence Mueller (Atlanta) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Image quality looks fine. Had to use a software-based dimmer to control the brightness of the connected display, and the camera doesn't work. Many people thinks this sucks, but I just use the camera on my MBP anyway - if I ever use it at all...
The image shows the convertor box itself with no cables. In reality it is the intersection of several cables. That said, if you are using this convertor to mate a new apple display to a previous generation of apple laptop, then you will get the benefit of using the power connection from the monitor on your MBP. This means your MB/MBP power supply can remain in your bag, and the convertor replaces it.
NOTE: Apple Store charges $150 for this convertor.
(in store, haven't seen it on their site)
Great converter for the great display January 23, 2010 Gospi (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Finally we can use Apple Cinema LCD display with Mac Pro. Camera does not work but that is a minor detail. Converter works fine, it does not get hot, and cost was reasonable.
