    1 out of 5 stars Don't use to extend a microphone   May 3, 2010
    David A. Dugdale
Don't use this with a microphone like I did (Rode Videomic) because it is poorly wired for that purpose. I am guessing the shielding is done poorly.

It will introduce noise (a lot) and will roll off the high end above 2kHz.

I measured 2.2 ohms on each conductor when I pinned it out. That is a lot of resistance for such a short cable.

2 out of 5 stars Adds noise to audio source (mic)   April 9, 2010

I used this item to extend a mcrophone cable.

When connected, it caused the sound quality to diminish significantly. It sounded as if it was pckng up interference, but I am not certain if the problem is related to attenuation, insulation, grounding or whatever. I ended up not using it.

Perhaps it would work better for an output device??

1 out of 5 stars Horrible for connecting a microphone to a camcorder   March 24, 2010
    Anne (Roanoke Rapids, NC)
I bought this cable to connect an external microphone to my camcorder for better sound when filming in my classroom. Unfortunately, using the cable creates a high pitched hum/shriek overlaid over the sound of any recording I have tried. When I have the microphone connected by itself I have no problems, but this extension cable basically ruins the sound quality.

    I'll be returning this!

4 out of 5 stars It does what it does just fine...   January 24, 2010
Robert S. Tobias (Arlington, VA USA)
I'm using this cable, along with the 2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch and a set of headphones to listen to TV at night without waking anybody. For that it works perfectly. In fact, for six and half bucks including shipping (thank you Amazon Prime) this audio extension cord is an outstanding value.

Now for the "Buts"... It is not designed to be used outside or any other demanding environment. As others have said, the cable is thin. That's bad if you need a cable that can withstand a lot of abuse. It's good if you need to wind the cable neatly every evening after you're done using it. As to the comment about the cable being susceptible to noise, I haven't heard any. Then again, I'm using it in my home which is relatively free from that kind of thing so I guess it (again) depends on where you plan on using the cable.

1 out of 5 stars One long piece of crap.   January 15, 2010
    Erin Mclemore
I'm really kicking myself right now. It's the one product I've bought in a long time that I haven't read the review first. I have a gaming chair that has built in speakers, so I was looking for an extremely long cable because I've had problems in the past with shorter cords getting wrapped around my chair and breaking at the plug in. This cable, however, broke the second time I plugged it in.

The sound quality is absolutely horribe. I understand cheap extensions like these will have a little static but this had so much static I could barely understand anything. Mine also had a high-pitched, continuous cross between a squeal and a screech. So I went back to my old cable. A few days later I decided to try it out again hooking it up to a 2 foot brand new cable to see if maybe the cable I had first plugged it into was bad. As I was pushing the cable fully into the input, the head just snapped off. It took needle-nose pliers to get the head out of the input. Lucky, nothing damaged my 200$ chair.

I've bought cheaper cables that work so much better than this.
