Product Description
You've got speakers, but you don't have stands, or space. What you need is the Sanus WMS5 set. This kit includes five tilt and swivel speakers, allowing you to hang your surround system from the walls or ceiling with ease.

5 out of 5 stars Good speaker holders   July 27, 2010

These speaker mounts are working fine for me. They are holding some older Sony surround speakers, including a somewhat larger center one, with no problems. They help get the speakers out of the way.

Pleasant to look at although I wish they were a bit smaller. Work exactly as described and have no problem holding cube speakers.

5 out of 5 stars Great speaker mounts for small speakers   July 12, 2010
Reviewer (USA)
These speaker mounts installed easily. The price was very good too.
The mechanism is made of plastic, so I don't think it can hold heavy speakers well.

There is a screw that has to be tightened at the angle that can be rotated. It's below a hexagonal plastic cap (with SANUS written on it). I had to tighten it quite a lot after positioning the speaker. That helped maintening the speakers in the correct position.

My speakers are in a cube shape and not too heavy. So that was the perfect product for me.

1 out of 5 stars Better off with speaker stands than these mounts   July 11, 2010

I got these speaker mounts to do my rear speakers. They're 4lbs 8oz each as I weighed them on my digital kitchen scale. The mounts are rated at 8lbs so I figured they would work. Unfortunately they kinda do not work. I mounted them to the wall and immediately the mount's elbow joint just flopped down and not the the angle it was set at. It is not in the manual but you can take the caps off the elbow joints and tighten them with the provided hex wrench. I did not realize that at first and though I would have to return them as being bent over is a terrible angle. The only problem then is that there are built in angle locks. So if you want it to be at a certain angle but have to tighten it, you might not be able to set them at the angle you want as it will want to slide to one side of the latch.

This was very frustrating as this feature is not in the instruction manual. And unless you look close you wouldn't notice the slight divot to remove the elbow caps.

Since about half the rated weight makes mount just fall over it is hard to get your speakers to be at the same angle. So when you walk into the room from the side you can see them slightly slopped which is annoying.

The other thing that I did not like is that unless you have a specific type of mount which is common in smaller satellite speakers you have to drill into the back of your speaker to attach the mount. The instructions give you the great advice to not drill through the component side as you can damage your speaker. Since everyone can see through solid wood boxes it is very easy to see if you are going to drill through something important or not. It's kinda scary as the crews are quite thick and about 1 inch long. My speakers had wall hangers and I tried mounting them to that but it did not feel secure as it was meant to just have a nail in the wall and you hang it from that.

Overall these things do not feel very secure. If you had even lighter speakers than half the rated weight it might feel better.

The other frustrating part is that the hardware (screws, bolts, spacers, etc) are in a long plastic bag with each part in it's own compartment. The bad part is there are labels on all of the parts which do not correspond with anything. For example there is a #8x06 wood screws. There are 5 screws in that pouch. In the instruction guide it states there are 5 WMS5[05] screws or 2 WMS3 [05] screws corresponding to which product you purchased. The screw picture has a labeling of 8 x 3/4 on the screw diagram and not all of the parts have this sub label. The instruction guide then refer to this part as [05] (as well as the other parts are various [01] to [13]). There is then another screw pouch that is #12x06 wood screw which has a similar diagram and there are 10 of. So you then have to look carefully to see which screw # matches which sub label to then figure out which square bracket number part the directions refer to.

I don't get why on the pouch they did not label each one with the square bracket part number as well since that's how the directions refer to them exclusively. For the most part it's not that hard because most of the screws are greatly different in size. But there are 2 wood scres and 3 bolts that are of similar size and 2 of the similar sized bolts have the same quantity. And the diagram shows one of the bolts having a tapered tip which none of the bolts have.

Another thing the outer packaging does not state is that you have to mount your speakers to a stud or ceiling joist. If I had the small light satellite speakers I would have never thought that would be a requirement. But they come with 2 inch long wood screws with instructions for mounting into cement walls. So be prepared to have to mount them there. You could get some of the sheet rock wall anchors but they may or may not fit through the holes for the wood screws.

Finally it says you need a drill and you really do need it. The wood screws that go into the back of a non screw holed back speaker do not start into wood very easily. So a small pre-drill really helps. Additionally the giant 2 inch screws that go into the wall have to be pre-drilled. It recommends a 1/8in wood drill bit and a 1/4in drill bit for cement installations.

5 out of 5 stars Sanus speaker mount   June 17, 2010

I was hoping for the best when I bought these mounts to go with my Klipsch speakers. It turned out much better than expected. Looks great on the wall and hides behind the speakers perfectly. I would recommend it.
