5 out of 5 stars Simple and works great.   June 18, 2010

A dog could set this up and work it. I love it.

Another reviewer complained about it looking like an octopus once you have it set up. Yep. It does. But it's cheap and works great.

2 out of 5 stars Ugly and overpriced   May 28, 2010
Mr Triscuit (Florida)
The photo doesn't make clear that this device, when fully connected, has cables hanging off all sides. Maybe that's OK in some areas like a playroom that doesn't have to look neat, but it's very ugly for any public space of the house. Nor does this product support S-video. I'm returning it. For an extra $4 I'm going with the "Cables To Go 4x2 switch": Cables To Go 28750 4x2 S-Video + Composite Video + Stereo Audio Selector Switch (Black), which supports:
- An extra output (total of 2)
- S-video on all inputs and outputs, as well as composite RCA and stereo-audio
- 3 inputs on the back, keeping it neat looking
- A 4th input on the front - suitable for temporarily connecting a video camera or other external source

Clean and attractive black packaging.
Well worth the slight extra cost in my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars Small, simple to use and works as advertised, with just one downside...   April 1, 2010
Andrey Dravinski (Los Angeles California)
I purchased this item to take care of the veritable rats nest of cables that had begun to form behind my TV and entertainment hutch and also to eliminate the hassle of constant swapping of RCA cables to my big old 40" CRT Tube TV. So far this selector is performing well!

Currently I have connected the following:

-1 Playstation 2 Thin Console
-1 Xbox 360
-1 5-Disc DVD Player

I've swapped signals between all three and all three play as if they were directly connected to the TV, I haven't had any signal bleed issues that I've seen pop up on reviews of other RCA switches here on Amazon.

I'd say the only downside that this switch has is the layout of how the plugs are arranged on the device. After plugging 3 devices plus the connector cable to the TV, the Hockey-Puck sized connector kind of resembles a sort of "starfish" of RCA plugs that stick out a fair amount.

Since it's a manual switch of course this will have to be placed relatively towards the front of your TV/Entertainment case, so it will kind of detract from the overall appearance of your A/V setup. If you're looking for an A/V switch that also handles cable management, look elsewhere, a "box" style A/V switch will probably do better for you.

Still overall, a solid compact switch, if you don't mind the Starfish of cables it creates, you'll be satisfied, and at this price point, I have no complaints.

4 out of 5 stars Looks stupid but works great   January 28, 2010
N. Bajracharya (Minneapolis, MN, US)
Like the title says, it looks stupid but works great. I only use the audio for this. My PS3, TV, and computer are hooked to my audio amplifier through this. If I want to switch the speakers to the (PS3/Cable/Antenna), I turn this ugly looking knob right and if I want to switch speakers to the computer, I turn that ugly knob left.

They should make it smaller and change the color to black. The gray looks out of place except maybe by a PSOne. Also the knob has a tiny dot on the top which tells you which port you're using. I had to use a sharpie to draw a larger dot indicator.

5 out of 5 stars Does just what I wanted it to do   January 21, 2010

I needed to be able to run three components (DVD player, VCR, and computer) into my stereo system. The stereo is small and it's old, but it is of good quality and has great sound and speakers. But it only has one set of audio inputs on the back. I am able to run the three components into the Sony Selector, and then run the one output to my little stereo. I only use the audio inputs and outputs on the device. It works just as I had hoped. One minor negative is that I can not see which device the dial is turned to. There is a red indicator but it's too tiny for my sorry eyes so I used a Sharpie pen to label it and now I can easily see where to turn the dial. Not even worth withholding a star. So happy to have found this item because it's made my life nicer.
