2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   July 25, 2010
Richard E. Donaghy (Irvine, CA United States)
If you are very patient it is a fair piece of equipment. It takes forever to do anything.

If you want to use it to stream movies from Netflix, you had better be hard wired to the internet because the unit's WiFi capabilities are woefully bad. Even though I have a top-of-the-line N Router, the tech at Vizio told me that the router would have to be within 40 feet of the player for it work work well and not have to rebuffer frequently. I measured the signal strength in the location of the player using two different laptops with only a B/G WiFi capability and both said that in that location I had great signal strength. The tech said that the Vizio receiver was not as good as a laptop and that I should consider hard wiring the player to my internet connection.

It would have been nice to know this prior to purchase. I also hate the Remote -- not user friendly.

I own a Vizio 52 inch TV and am happy with that. Vizio did not do a good job on the BluRay player.

4 out of 5 stars tested with comcast and verizon fios, happy so far   July 22, 2010

Very easy to setup with Comcast. With my Verizon Actiontec router it didn't initially work though - I had to disable WEP.
(not sure if I should blame the router or this box)
I've had it for a couple of months and it's been working great.
The lack of buttons on the device (when it's turned off) makes it somewhat kid-proof, which is a nice feature :)

1 out of 5 stars Buyer beware - major defects   July 22, 2010

This is my first review on Amazon. I'm compelled to write a review for this product in hopes of saving other the time and aggregravation that I experienced with this product. I purchased it in April 2010 ... watched 3 bluray movies on it ... and it died in Jun 2010. When it did work, it was slow to load bluray disks. While the Wifi was a nice option, I ended plugging it directly into my router because the wifi was too slow. Streaming movies from Netflix and Amazon would pause every few minutes to catch-up. Once I plugged it in, it worked much, much better. I did like to interface and wifi options. In June, I went to turn it on and the unit froze and the banner \ loading screen. I tried turning it off, rebooting, and everything else that vizio tech support advised - but no luck. Vizio support had me send them proof of purchase ... and the saga with support began. I call every 2 to 3 days to check the status. It took almosttwo weeks for them to acknoledge my proof of pruchase, and I am still waiting for them to 'decide' what to do next. Please save yourself some time and skip this. On another note, I do own two Vizio HD TV's = and I love them. Just the Bluray player stinks.

1 out of 5 stars Vizio VBR200W Don't Buy IT!!!!   July 13, 2010
Leah Salby-computer Cents LLC
I paid only $160 for this. I could not BELIEVE Amazon is listing it for over $400. It's slow. It's limited in the apps because you get just what they advertise and you cannot surf.

The remote broke and there is no universal remote you can use at all. I called for replacement and they are STILL scratching their heads after 10 days wondering where it is in the warehouse so it is not shipping. They promised a ship date of 7/6, but WAIT there's more! I called after the holidays and they said; "no, they should not have given you a firm ship date." Well, they don't honor what they say so here I am 10 days later without the remote.

You CAN'T use the TV apps without the remote!! Poor design, slow to respond remote and sometimes it would drop my LAN and I had to reboot reboot reboot.

Don't buy anything from Vizio. Customer service is horrible. I read many where a Vizio TV was purchased. One said it popped and never worked again and was under warranty. Vizio told that customer to ship a huge TV back and PAY for shipping!!!

Never again...back to Sony. Here I thought since it was made in the U.S. it would be a good deal, NOT!

2 out of 5 stars Needs firmware update asap   June 20, 2010
Randy M (Des Moines, IA United States)
I've had this for 6 months now. Got it at wallyworld. I mainly use for netflix and vudu. The response of the unit is very very poor and sluggish. Menu browsing is a pain. Video browsing ie netflix or vudu is a slow pain. Everything menu related is very slow. Checking for firmware online thru unit, you get an error code. It should just say "none available", or "you have the latest". But instead you get an error code "can not perform function". Also get this error when setting up network access too, even though it does connect to the network, going by the error code you think it did not connect. Very strange. But.. this unit needs a firmware update asap to address slow sluggish menus and error codes.
Im afraid to play the latest BR discs fearing they wont play, but I use my LG 390 for BR viewing.
Id be careful if you go with this unit. Get it from someone you can return it for a full refund if the sluggish-ness and other quirks are unacceptable to you.
