1 out of 5 stars Seeking Suggestions or Unwanted MWD2205 Player   February 27, 2010
E. C. Hawkins (WASHINGTON, USA)
Did I get taken or what? I recently bought a used MWD2205 player from a private party (my mistake): no instruction manual, no remote and voila, DVD player wont read disks or play! There is no spin up or recognizing a dvd after inserting one. The vcr works fine. Anyone have any idea why the dvd wont play factory or burned disks? From reading the reviews here, I'm under the impression you can't do any recording off a dvd to a vhs tape simultaneously. Please, someone set me straight on things. And no need to ball me out for purchasing from a private party. My bad and lessons learned. *lol* Also, I popped the lid on the thing, checked all connections and cable ribbons, including putting in a disk to see if the laser was coming on. It was and all connections were intact just no spin up so I have no idea what's going on. Any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated. Even better, anyone have a player they're ready to toss in the trash? I'm not going to take it to a qualified service outlet as the exhorbitant cost for repairs (3 times worth the price of the unit) is not worth it. Yes, it's flimsy, lightweight and nothing to write home about so why sink good $$ into overhauling cheaply made junk that's either defective from the git go or will be in due course. I look forward to your feedback. Thank you! Tj from Washington state

1 out of 5 stars Good...but don't expect it to last.   January 1, 2010

This DVD/VHS combo really get's the job done. It's great DVD-R and DVD-RW quality and the VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS converting works great!!

HOWEVER:

6 months after buying the product, the recorder no longer worked.
It simply said "cannot record on this disk" for ever disk inserted.
I called the company and they said that this happens to most of their players and fixing it would cost $200, more than I payed for the product itself.
What happened was the recorder's laser burned out, probably because of the company's use of cheap parts.

So if you want to use this for a few months (just maybe to record a couple of TV movies or maybe 1/2 a season of your favorite show) this will get the job done! But save the box and receipts because you will have to return it real soon!

Not an attractive machine but works fine for my needs. I use it to record 5 days a week and it's great so far.

3 out of 5 stars Video Casset CD Player   September 17, 2009

Remote was delivered without EJECT button. Original view and manual show this button being available. Disappointed with supplier. Called them and they said they would send new one...but never did.
