Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The new TH-BA1 is a soundbar system that features a low-profile 4.1-channel front surround sound bar and wireless subwoofer. This system combines sleek design and simple setup with performance that delivers clear dialog and convincing surround sound. The sound bar is configured to fit neatly under a TV or can be wall-mounted. Its front surround technology eliminates the need for rear speakers and the placement problems, clutter and extra wiring that comes with them. A single cable connects the sound bar to a source (DVD or Blu-ray player) or TV via each systems' two digital optical inputs and one analog input. And to further simplify setup, the included subwoofer is wireless.

4 out of 5 stars Good for a Soundbar - Don't compare to a 7.1 system   July 30, 2010
Bargain hunter (NJ)
I've hooked this up to the Samsung UN55C8000 LED TV and Samsung 3D Blu-ray player (both via the optical input). It sounds good for a Soundbar for this price point but PLEASE do not expect same sound as a dedicated surround sound system. The remote is quite useful. The only thing I wish was the bass was a little higher also, I wish it would automatically turn-on and off based on the input signal.

4 out of 5 stars A good Soundbar   July 29, 2010

If your flat screen TV has anemic sound, like my Samsung, this unit will thrill you. However, the sound quality is not equal to a full audio system. (I wish they added some dome tweeters.) A huge improvement and worth the money, but if you intend to listen to music often go for a full surround sound system with floor standing speakers.

4 out of 5 stars Does the job   July 24, 2010

I got on sale when was $199 here. For that it adds just enough bass and stereo to get the job done if you do not have room or inclination for full stereo. We put this upstairs-my full 1000 watt system is downstairs. Note for those using Harmony Universal Remotes-switch the default power on delay for the soundbar from 1500 to 5000. Otherwise the Harmony will send commands before it is fully on.

3 out of 5 stars My Comments   July 10, 2010
Riaz Khan (Houston)
JVC TH-BA1 Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer is a good product with excellent quality sound. Although the Soundbar performance is very good but the sub woofer's performance is very weak. Excellent product, if you want to use it in bed room but I would suggest that go for proper system, if you really want to get Stereo effects. Riaz Khan

1 out of 5 stars Voice dialog unclear!   July 6, 2010

Bought this from Amazon, (good service) and set it up in my living room (size of room is about 20' x 20' with 11' ceilings. Pluged directly into my blu-ray player via optical cable. Watched 3 different movies to test. All 3 Dialog is unclear has an echo to it tried all adjustments and could not produce a satisfying sound for voice. Base was good and remote is nice, but it lacks sound field selections. Returned and bought a yamaha reciever and bose center channel + 2 bose in-wall left and right speakers. If you have a large room and want to hear what the actors are saying in the movie, stay away from sound bars.
