Product Description The SC-PT770 uses front and center Bamboo Cone Speakers and a Kelton Subwoofer for crisp, clear mid- and high-frequency ranges and powerful, deep bass. A rigid, low-density bamboo material used in the fron and center speaker's cones helps achieve a clean, responseive sound. Vocals are pure and clear and dialog is crisp and easy to understand. The Kelton Type Subwoofer has an internal structure that is divided into two completely sealed spaces. The drive unit that is mounted to the space in the back causes the air in the front space to vibrate. This causes and Acoustic Filter effect in the front space to absorb unwanted noise while also vibrating the Passive Radiators. This achieves highly robust, reverberating bass sounds. Built-in Dolby Digital and DTS Decoder renders movie-theater-like sound while Home Theater Mode produces a total ouput power of 1000W of High Clarity Sound. Easy to Use: The built-in Universal Dock for iPod gives you a great new way to enjoy music and video3. Just slip your iPod into the cradle and enjoy. The dock charges your iPod , allows you to use the home theater remote to control the iPod , has on-screen audio menus, and also plays back iPod video. The SC-PT770 includes the front to rear wireless speakers, and a High Speed 5-DVD/CD changer with Multi-format Plaback: DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, +R, +RW, CD, CD-R/RW, Video CD, SVCD, WMA, MP3, and JPEG. Environmentally Friendly: Add to this feature set a Smart Setup mode with Auto Speaker Setup and and Energy Star compliance, Low Power consumption for Stand-by (0.1W), and you have an ideal Home Theater solution.

Panasonic SC-PT770 1000W 5DVD 5.1 Channel Home Theater System with Built-in iPod dock and front-to-rear-Wireless Rear Speakers July 18, 2010 Cajun Transplant (Southern Mississippi) Before ordering this system, I did much research as to price and capability. I went to stores like Best Buy, etc. to listen to a number of home theater systems. I made my decision based on sound, ease of operation, ease of installation, and price. The rear wireless speakers are the best part. There are no wires to run through my ceiling or through the baseboards. The sound is amazing, and I can control the volume of ALL speakers individually through the remote. The sound of DVD movies and CD stereo is great. I put it in my living room which is about 14' x 26'. I was so impressed with this unit that I've bought two of them. The other is to give to my son when he returns from Iraq this coming Christmas.
DONT BUY THIS!!! June 26, 2010 twigx69 When it arrived one of the speakers did not work at all! Thought maybe it was the setting, as I tried to change sound setting now it just says error and am unable to change the setting. Right after the warranty was up which was not a long period at all, one of the other speakers went out. I can honestly say the $150 stereo I bought at walmart performs much louder and can be configured to meet my needs as opposed to this. Biggest waste of money. I can not even get my money back on this item, only a partial refund which is ridiculous. I work on computers and build them and the worst thing I have ever come across dealing with electronics was this stereo. Also tried 2 different Ipod's I have and yet still has not loaded my music to play. Is very slow when responding and not compatible with sound cards very touchy!
A good idea, if it worked well June 20, 2010 Seaquell (Franklin, WI United States) My husband and I received this system as a Christmas gift in Dec '09. We had done a lot of research, knowing we wanted a box home theather system, and that we needed wireless due to the setup of our living room. This system seemed about perfect.
First, the good.
-The sound, when there are no issues, is quite good. The speakers seems to have decent sound.
-The wireless concept is really quite nice. The back speakers are small enough to make them easily mountable, and the front towers have a nice sleek look.
-The smart setup is easy to use and quick to setup.
-DVD picture is quite nice.
Now, the not so good.
-The base is almost too heavy, even on the lowest setting.
-I'm disappointed with the controls on the front of the system. It is difficult to figure out how to change the discs - It doesn't seem like I shoud have to read the owner's manual to figure that out.
-The smart setup, while easy enough, does not make the rear speakers loud enough - they are barely discernable over the volume of the front speakers.
-We have an issue where the sound cuts out on the wireless back speakers whenever you walk near the wireless transmitter. I am following up with Panasonic to see if they can resolve this issue, but this has been happening since we opened the box, and all they can do over the phone is ask is the speakers are properly connected and then reset the settings to the manufacturer settings.
-Setting the speaker volume individually is challenging as the menu systems are not very intuitive.
-More inputs to the system would have been nice (there is only one optical in).
I was a little bummed that this system was so disappointing, considering I did a lot of research before deciding on this one. I also feel that the customer service from Panasonic was a little lacking. If I had a choice, I probably wouldn't purchase this system again.
Eh.... Def would NOT recommend June 5, 2010 -John (pasadena, ca United States) I purchased this product. There are not enough inputs to this system. I have a direct tv box hooked up to the system and that's it. I initially thought the system would come with more inputs so that I can hook up my PS3 and XBOX... BUT.... I guess TV stereo is fine....
My biggest complaint about the system is the color corded wires. These things are an god awful white / blue wires and if you're essentially stuck with them. If you do purchase this system, make sure you never break the wires (as I did). The cords provided are not nearly long enough and in one instance I accidentally broke one wire. The replacements are going to cost me close to $20! (that's 5% of the retail of the system). It's hard to justify any cords being worth that much. I definitely felt as if I got ripped off. Oh, good luck with Panasonic's support page.
To be fair, this product is fairly easy to use.
Very nice for the price May 26, 2010 J. Smith This is a very good surround sound system. While I wouldn't say it's going to beat your more feature-heavy systems that come with their own receiver, it does do a pretty great job. My only complaint/problem/whatever, is that the menus could be a little more detailed, and that the system in general provided more options for customizing your output (i.e. presets).
