Product Description The Harman Kardon HKTS 18 is a beautiful black lacquer speaker system with a powerful 200 watt 10" subwoofer. It is a 5.1 speaker system which can be expanded to 7.1 with the optional HKS-9 satellite speakers. It has a 3/4" tweeter for excellent high frequency response. It is magnetically shielded so it can be put next to your TV. It comes with all the speaker cables and shelf stand and wall mount brackets for the satellites.

Fanatastic Speaker Set May 30, 2010 Adam Turney (Las Vegas, NV USA) For the price you pay this speaker set is phenomenal and beautiful. The speakers are constructed well and feel nice and heavy. They are not made from cheaper wood like some other brands. They are sharp in their sound reproduction and the subwoofer puts out massive bass. I have these setup in my living room (probably about 14x18) and the movie experience is fantastic. I can crank up my receiver to incredibly loud levels and never hear an ounce of distortion. However, if it is too loud you will need to turn down the sub because it will rattle the walls so much. The only complaint is the awkward and difficult speaker mounts that take some work. Having two people can make the job much easier. Overall these speakers will impress anyone and the price can't be beat.
POOR QUALITY AND SERVICE May 12, 2010 James B. Sedan (Aurora, Co United States) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased these speakers and sub woofer in July of 2008. I only used them for watching movies usually. When I purchased them the warranty stated that they were covered for 5 years. THIS IS MISLEADING. Only the speakers are covered for that long. The Sub woofer stopped working and I took it to a service center. After it was there for 6 weeks and three orders of parts. I was imformed that the electronics are not covered after a year. They wanted 384.00 to repair it. Which is about 40 less than I paid for the whole system. So much for paying more for quailty. I had some K-mart speakers and a powered sup woofer for 6 years and they never stopped working. I would suggest not buying any speakers from this company. They sell Harman Kardon, JBL, and Infinity speakers. The service center just informed me that the warranty use to be two years for electronics on Harman Kardon speakers. They changed it to a year. I guess they were finding that their speakers electronics wouldn't last that long. (Poor Quaility).
Nice little speaker set but way over rated. May 11, 2010 Geezer (Upstate NY) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Harman Kardon HKTS-18 surround system to replace the Bose Acoustimass set I had previously. I am completely baffled on how Bose continues to sell as many speakers as they do with the way they perform sonically. Probably has something with the fact that there are so many of them in Costco and Sam's Clubs now and that unexplainable mystique about Bose. Anyway.. I bought the Harman Kardon HKTS-18s because of all the high praise reviews I saw on them and while I am impressed with the build quality and their cool look, the glitter fades quickly when put to task on music. I guess I really bought in to the hype that little 3 1/2 inch drivers could deliver quality audio. Quite simply, they don't. I gave them six months and have now relegated them to our bedroom armoire stereo. Deciding to not buy speakers by reviews any longer, I ventured out to audition speakers in person at various audio stores to build a good system I could watch and listen to movies by in a 5.1 or 7.1 configuration as well as enjoy music to and still not break the bank. I finally decided on Polk Audio and have since acquired a pair of Polk floorstanding fronts, center, surrounds, and rears, along with a Velodyne DLS3750R subwoofer to complete the new 7.1 system we now enjoy. All I can say is WOW. What a difference. After comparison there is none between the Harman Kardon sub and the Velodyne. And the small HKTS speakers can't hold a candle to the Polks. If you're looking for asthetics in a nice little speaker set and good music reproduction is not too important, The HKTS-18 system will do an adequate job with surround sound in a small room (repeat..small room), but I can't recommend them for an all purpose movie surround system as well as a quality set for full range music reproduction.
HKTS 18 Nice Construction Poor Center Channel May 2, 2010 Edward Hermann 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The HKTS 18 is a beautiful shinny black speaker system all nicely matching. Each piece is heavy for its size and can deliver quite a sound. However, the Center Speaker is small, and though its sound quality might be deemed amazing compared to its size, the overall experience of owning it leaves me with the feeling that I'm lacking depth of sound. In my opinion, if you wish to buy this system, consider replacing the Center channel with a larger unit that could draw you into the orchestra. The satellites and subwoofer are good.
The more I listen the more I like March 21, 2010 M. Stephen (Texas) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I wasn't that impressed but as the speakers got broke in and the more I listened to dfferent media's I have grown to like them very well. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the subwoofer and the cable provided for it. If the sb sounded as good as it looks it would be one of the best on the market but that is not the case. It went to the HK from a tSc ASW-10 and with out a doubt the
tSc blows the doors off the HK in every way but looks. The sub cable HK provides is trash. Do yourself and your system a big favor and get you a good cable. It will be the best 25.00 you can spend.
Overall I enjoy these speakers very much. Really a great sound for a good price
